Lets take a few minutes to talk about a real buzzy topic right now: Self Care.
This term is going to mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people and I believe it ranges in execution from a taking a freaking shower while your kids nap instead of cleaning, to a month long yoga retreat in Bali. That’s quite a range indeed.
I think though, that as women we’re finally catching on that you can’t pour from an empty cup. We want to do it all, and often leave our personal needs on the back burner. We want keep everyone happy and kick ass at the same time, and of course if we don’t make it look flawless, we feel failure.
That’s the pressure we put on ourselves, ladies. Some may say it’s selfish, but I say it’s necessary — I’ve made the resolution (not a new years one) to put myself at the top of my list. I’ve vowed to not get down on myself if I don’t check all the boxes on my never ending to-do list. To take the time that I need to re-energize, to be re-inspired, to take a breather and sometimes, just say no.
So here’s my challenge to you: Make a list of the things that make you happy, big or small — and make it a priority to do them! PRO-TIP: Pre-schedule a date with yourself once a week for an entire month and then check back with your findings 🙂
