I have to say, that I’ve shot pretty much anywhere and everywhere at this point in my career and the classic studio setting will never go out of style in my book — for the right shoot.
When it comes to branding though, here’s our chance to get super creative and help your empire stand out.
Here are some tried and true go to’s:
- Your Storefront: Whether it’s a salon, gym, office, or actual storefront, this is a must-have in your content. It will get your audience familiar with where they’re going to visit you and give them a sense of belonging before they even walk through your door!
- Coffee Shop: This is a great option, it’s relate-able and a great opportunity for some relaxed photos with a little bit of a work-y vibe.
- Studio: Classic, great option if you want headshots, a clean look, team photos – that kind of vibe.
- Show Home/Airbnb: This is a great option for a cozy lifestyle vibe and it’s very versatile! I recommend a show home over your own home because it takes away the stress of having to declutter and put everyday items away.
Now that we’ve chatted about the locations we can rely on over and over again, it’s time to think outside the box. What’s fun to you? Where are you working when you don’t realize you’re working? What do you like to do for fun? What spaces bring you joy?? Or what would just be wild to share with your audience? The thing is fam, anything goes — literally anything.
Up-Your-Game Locations
The bathroom. Yea, I said it, let’s squeeze you into that powder room with the most epic wall paper and laugh our asses off, shall we??
The beach. If earthy, fun and flirty are your vibes then the beach is for you. Can’t be afraid to get dirty on these ones!
Pool side. Hello five-star lifestyle brand, amiright? Pool side is a great vibe if you love sunshine & water.
In your car. Literally every entrepreneur works in their car! Answering email, posting to the socials, taking calls and driving all over the place. This is a very relatable setting to grab some content for your media presence.
Check out some back alleys. Or any street really, getting out into your neighbourhood for your photos shares a fun local vibe that followers in your area will grab on to!
Fire Escape. Another fun urban look you can’t go wrong with.
Grocery Store. If you’re in fitness or nutrition, this one is a no-brainer!
Your front step. Easy peasy, and no rush hour commute required!
On a boat. I mean, if lake life is your vibe then why not share that with your audience??
Walk ways. Another great urban vibe, this one will last at least three seasons too because of the neutral background.
In the lake/river. Notice I said *in* the water?? Get playful with your branding photos, it totally pays off to have fun in your shoots! Your viewers will love seeing that side of you!
Parking lot/Car Park: Love this one for the neutral background that will last alll year long. AND you can wear literally anything to this kind of location and it will POP!
